-Relaxing
Creating a clean and not attention-grabbing series of images was the main aspect considered in the making of this project. These pictures should consist of a replacement from all the clutter/color-exploding images you find all over social media and in most advertisement.
(Everything visual now has to have something really crazy, to capture your attention, for the product to be soled or have an impact, but these visuals just dive us further from enjoying the simple things.)
-Visual break
Inspiration for this project came by looking through a handful of pottery catalogs, especially modern ones. Some of the most influential people found in these books where Hitomi Hosono and Laurent Craste with his series “Abuse”. Although the material I chose has a huge amount of limitations and you can’t backtrack after you made a decision, through the magic of photography I was able to create something unique, not ordinary “clay pots”.
(One of the most prolific photographers of the twenty-one century is David Lachapelle. Giving him as an opposite example of what this project is, can help people understand where my mindset is coming from. His photography, although amazing, uses a lot of colorful textures, fancy backgrounds, and usually nudity, for shock value, and to grab the viewer's attention.)
This is where my concept comes into place, making something so simple, reducing everything to a gum-like material, and some textures created by bending it lets you enjoy the images without being bombarded by information from all the places, just appreciating simplicity and peacefulness.
